the tidy & the wild

The weedy garden is a little less weedy and just as lush.

A few beds have been cleared, composted, and planted. We've got cherry tomatoes, delicata squash and pumpkin starts in the ground. And the strawberry patch has been replanted. The grapevines are maturing and more dense than ever.

A few beds have been left wild. At least for now.

The mundane routines of survival have been dragging me down. I'm tired. I'm angry. I imagine I'm resisting the Capitalist grind but honestly I see I'm tangled up in it and dependent on it. I resent this way of life. And, then, I forget and neglect the spaces where I can create, cultivate, choose another way of living. The garden beds, both the tidy and wild, invite and remind me of the edges where I can grow something (someone?) my own.
